Art en Site: Greenwich
Using mobile maps to locate masterpiece art at the site it was painted, and viewing original en site (Art-en-site). Examples of map-guided painting viewing at this map:
More views of Greenwich Hospital: George Chambers painting, plus current (obstructed) view
A comparison of Canaletto's painting of Greenwich Hospital shows some discrepancy in perspective; perhaps the artist shared architect Wren's low opinion of the Queen's house at center rear. That building is prominent between the 2 domes, is hardly seen in the painting.

Geocoded Art on blackberry
Take the painting to the place; with paintings loaded on mobile maps, you can examine the landscape masterpieces where they were painted.
In the picture are a copy of Chambers' painting "The Bellot Memorial at Greenwich Hospital"; and a photo of the scene today; and a photo of the image on the blackberry, provided by links from a mobile map.
High and low magnification images of the blackberry screen showing: the painting viewed en site, loaded from a marker on mobile maps; the phone screen as it looks in the map view, with markers showing locations of painting sites; and the screen as it looks when a marker is selected, with access to the attached painting had by choosing "Details".
Additional map led viewing of art en site in Borough, at St. George the Martyr church. Grimshaw painted this scene with the title "Blackman Street, London", as the south part of Borough High Street was known at that time.
The map-fed image allows the painting to be inspected on site and experience the current street scene to compare to that captured by the artist.
Low and high magnification views of the phone screen showing the map tools used to find the site and load the image. After selecting the marker for this map entry, clicking on "Details" loads the attached image of the painting.
